Limit Your Exposure To William Byron At Daytona
10 months agoWilliam Byron will start 18th in Sunday's 66th running of the Daytona 500. After winning a career-high six races in 2023, FanDuel sportsbook lists Byron among the favorites to win the title in 2024 at plus-600. Although there is little doubt that the 26-year-old will have a great 2024, what is less clear is what we should expect from him this weekend. In his 12 Cup starts at Daytona, the 2017 Xfinity Series champion has one victory (August 2020) and has finished in the top 10 in 25% of his appearances. With this said, three of his last four Daytona starts have ended in crashes, resulting in an average finish of 28.5. What is notable about this timeframe is that it coincides with the launch of the NextGen car, which shows that Byron struggles to keep this car on this particular track. Despite becoming one of the elite drivers on the circuit, we cannot ignore these DNFs. Because of this, while we would not completely fade the No. 24, we recommend limiting your exposure to him this weekend.
