1 year agoNew Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed secured three of his four targets for 36 yards in the team's 24-6 win over the New York Giants. His totals led wideouts in New Orleans but trailed both Alvin Kamara and Juwan Johnson. Derek Carr spread the football around evenly with top wideouts Chris Olave (ankle) and Michael Thomas (knee, injured reserve) out of the lineup. The Saints also didn't have to throw a lot to walk away with a victory. If Olave isn't able to return to the lineup in a short week, Shaheed will again operate as the de-facto WR1 against the Rams.--Andrew Ball - RotoBaller

6 months agoNew Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed (knee) was placed on the injured reserve on Thursday, according to Katherine Terrell of ESPN. Shaheed is set to undergo meniscus surgery and will now have to miss at least the next four games. However, given the potential extended recovery period due to the operation, the 26-year-old could be sidelined for a longer period. Fantasy managers should continue monitoring his progression, as he would be eligible to return during Week 11. Shaheed enjoyed an excellent start to the campaign, scoring at least 15.0 PPR points in four of the six games he played. With Shaheed and Chris Olave (concussion) ruled out on Thursday evening, rookie Bub Means will likely lead the New Orleans passing attack.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

6 months agoNew Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed (knee) is set to undergo meniscus surgery on his knee, according to Nick Underhill. As a result, fantasy managers should not expect him on the field anytime soon. Shaheed may also be placed on the injured reserve if he is expected to miss at least four games. Shaheed was enjoying a nice breakout campaign as he scored at least 15.0 PPR points in four out of the six games he has played in. The Saints will now be without their top two wideouts on Thursday evening, with Chris Olave (concussion) already ruled out. As a result, Bub Means, Mason Tipton, and Cedrick Wilson Jr. will likely lead the New Orleans air attack for now. UPDATE: Shaheed is officially out for Thursday's game against Denver.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

6 months agoNew Orleans Saints wide receivers Rashid Shaheed (knee) and Chris Olave (concussion) did not practice on Tuesday. Both players exited the Saints' Week 6 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a little banged up. While Olave has been an inconsistent fantasy asset, Shaheed has been excellent this season and is currently the WR22. He has also seen at least seven targets in three straight games. Olave on the other hand is the WR47 in fantasy. He only posted three points in Week 5 and his injury caused him to finish with -0.5 points in Week 6. However, both players are essential to the success of the Saints' offense as they get ready to face a tough Denver Broncos defense in Week 7. Given that this game will be played on Thursday Night, both players seem to be in high danger of missing this contest. Olave's status is especially in jeopardy given that he is in the concussion protocol and has not begun practicing. The absence of both players would boost the value of wide receivers Bub Means and Mason Tipton along with tight end Juwan Johnson. It would also likely force the Saints to have a heavy reliance on running back Alvin Kamara (hand)--Quincy Milton III - RotoBaller

6 months agoNew Orleans Saints electric wide receiver/return man Rashid Shaheed (knee) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated injury report for a knee injury that is described as concerning, according to a source. Chris Olave suffered a concussion in the Week 6 loss to the division-rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, too, and could be fighting an uphill battle to be cleared from the league's concussion protocol before the Thursday night contest in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos. If neither Olave nor Shaheed are able to play in Week 7, the Saints would be down to rookies Bub Means and Mason Tipton and Cedrick Wilson Jr. in three-wide sets for rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler with Derek Carr (oblique) expected to miss a second straight game. The 26-year-old Shaheed will have his knee checked out, which should give us a better idea of whether he can play on Thursday. Denver's D could be licking their chops if both Olave and Shaheed are out.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
