The New York Rangers have acquired defenseman Chad Ruhwedel from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick. The veteran was used sparingly by Pittsburgh throughout his eight-year tenure with the team, appearing in 47 games or less in seven of those eight seasons, including this one. A defense-first blueliner, Ruhwedel has one goal and four points across 47 games this season while averaging just 12:33 of ice time per game. Ruhwedel won't crack the Rangers' top six on the back end but will rather serve as depth down the stretch and into the postseason. The Blueshirts sit atop the Metropolitan Division with a 40-18-4 on the campaign.--Brenton Kemp
