Ranger Suarez Unlikely To Be Ready By Opening Day
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitcher Ranger Suarez is unlikely to be ready by Opening Day due to visa issues. According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, Suarez does not have his visa and is unlikely to be ready Opening Day. He was excellent in multiple roles for the Phillies last season, posting an 8-5 record, four saves, 1.36 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 107 strikeouts over 106 innings in 2021. After the All-Star break, the 26-year-old transitioned to the starting rotation and pitched to a 1.51 ERA across 12 starts. It's unclear if Suarez's visa issues will stretch into the regular season as the Phillies rotation could be short-handed to start the year until he returns.
