Randy Vasquez Allows Two Runs In Relief
1 year agoNew York Yankees rookie right-hander Randy Vasquez came on in relief on Sunday in the 7-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks and surrendered two earned runs on three hits while walking two and striking out two in 2 1/3 innings after replacing starter Carlos Rodon. For the final week of the regular season, Vasquez is likely to continue coming out of the bullpen with Luke Weaver settling into the fifth spot in the starting rotation. The 24-year-old Dominican has only appeared in 10 games (five starts) for the Yankees in his first major-league season, but he's been decent, posting a 2.91 ERA (5.35 FIP), 1.23 WHIP, 16 walks and 27 strikeouts in 34 innings. However, he's also been pretty fortunate given his 10.7 percent walk rate.
