Randy Dobnak Tosses Six Shutout Frames In Victory
3 years agoMinnesota Twins pitcher Randy Dobnak looked very impressive as he earned his first win of the season over the Cleveland Indians on Friday night. Dobnak pitched six shutout innings, allowing three hits and a pair of walks while striking out five batters. He generated eight whiffs, five of them on his new-and-improved slider. Dobnak's sinker was also very effective, as it was a putaway pitch on three of his punchouts and a weapon he utilized to induce seven of his 11 groundball outs on the night. The strong effort lowered Dobnak's season ERA to 5.75, and he seems to have righted the ship after a bit of a slow start to the 2021 season. Someone will have to be sent back down to Triple-A when Michael Pineda (thigh) returns, though Dobnak made a strong case Friday night that it should be anyone but him.
