Rams To Meet With Todd Gurley To Decide His Future
5 years agoThe Los Angeles Rams and head coach Sean McVay want to sit down with running back Todd Gurley before they make a decision on his future. Gurley has been one of the best running backs in football with three 1,000-yard seasons in his first five years in the NFL, but knee issues limited him to just 223 carries in 2019 for a career-low 857 yards, although he did score 12 rushing touchdowns. Outright releasing Gurley would leave the Rams in a huge hole in terms of the salary cap ($25.6 million in dead money). Trading him is on the table. It would be more feasible but definitely not easy given his big contract. Gurley is due a $7.55 million roster bonus in March. The former 10th overall pick played in 15 games last year, but the Rams were wary of not overdoing things with his knee. The injury concerns will make Gurley more of an RB2 going forward.
