5 years agoThe Los Angeles Rams and head coach Sean McVay want to sit down with running back Todd Gurley before they make a decision on his future. Gurley has been one of the best running backs in football with three 1,000-yard seasons in his first five years in the NFL, but knee issues limited him to just 223 carries in 2019 for a career-low 857 yards, although he did score 12 rushing touchdowns. Outright releasing Gurley would leave the Rams in a huge hole in terms of the salary cap ($25.6 million in dead money). Trading him is on the table. It would be more feasible but definitely not easy given his big contract. Gurley is due a $7.55 million roster bonus in March. The former 10th overall pick played in 15 games last year, but the Rams were wary of not overdoing things with his knee.
