Raiders Unlikely To Use Franchise Tag On Tre'von Moehrig
1 day agoLas Vegas Raiders impending free-agent safety Tre'von Moehrig is expected to generate plenty of interest in free agency this offseason after recording career-highs in tackles (104), pass breakups (10) and QB hits (three) in 17 starts in his fourth year in the NFL with the Raiders. Moehrig is among the free agents that the Raiders would like to re-sign, but the franchise tag for safeties in 2025 will be close to $20 million, which is more than his projected market value, writes ESPN's Ryan McFadden. The Raiders have only used the franchise tag six times in club history, and they won't be making it seven with the 25-year-old defensive back. A second-round pick (43rd overall) in 2021 out of TCU, Moehrig has 297 total tackles (202 solo), three sacks, eight tackles for loss, five QB hits, six interceptions, 29 pass breakups and two fumble recoveries in his four years in Vegas.
