Raheem Mostert's Opportunity Is Now
5 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert is in line for a sizeable workload in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals. With the injury to Tevin Coleman (ankle), the Niners will pivot to Matt Breida and Mostert to man their systematic running back committee. The fourth-year special teams lifer averaged an impressive 7.7 YPC last season (261 total rush yards) before suffering a broken forearm. He led the team with 40 rush yards in Week 1. While the Niners will likely promote running back Jeffery Wilson from the practice squad, Mostert should handle eight to 12 touches as the first mate to Breida. With a decent floor but low ceiling, dial up Mostert as a low-end flex on Sunday against the Bengals.
