Rafael Montero Gives Up Game-Winning Grand Slam
4 years agoTexas Rangers reliever Rafael Montero finally gave up an earned run, but unfortunately, gave up three of them on a Manny Machado grand slam to win the game on Wednesday night. Montero came into the game for the bottom of the ninth and kept the Padres in check to send the game to extra innings, but couldn't maintain it in the 10th inning. He walked Trent Grisham and Fernando Tatis to load the bases, and Machado hit a 436 ft walk-off grand slam. Montero had been spotless before Wednesday night's outing, and owners should not drop him moving forward. It was the longest outing he has pitched all season, and he still did his job in the bottom of the ninth. Look for Montero to get the ball in the ninth again when the Rangers earn another save opportunity.
