Rafael Montero Bounces Back For Sixth Save
4 years agoTexas Rangers reliever Rafael Montero entered the top of the ninth with a one-run lead hoping to end an eight-game losing streak for his team, and came through with flying colors. Montero allowed two runners to reach base before he struck out Matt Olson and then got Matt Chapman to fly out to escape from the jam. It was the first outing for the 29-year-old since he gave up a grand slam to the Padres last week, but it looks like he has shaken it off and is ready to start a new scoreless streak. He is tied for the fifth-most saves in the American League and is a pleasant surprise for Texas during this season. Keep Montero in your lineups for the foreseeable future, but be aware of the upcoming trade deadline in case the Rangers try to cash in on his performances during the shortened season.
