Procedure "Inevitable" For Shohei Ohtani's Elbow
1 year agoNez Balelo, the agent of Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (elbow, oblique) said Monday that it is "inevitable" that he will have "some kind of procedure" to repair the partial tear in his right ulnar collateral ligament. However, he also said that "Shohei is going to be in somebody's lineup next year, DH-ing when the bell rings." Ohtani was shut down from pitching at the end of August but has still been hitting and owns a .304/.412/.654 slash line with 44 home runs, 95 RBI, and 20 stolen bases. Ohtani, who is poised to be one of the most intriguing free agents this winter, now has a good deal of uncertainty around him. While he has proven to be a top fantasy asset with his hitting skills alone, how he treats his elbow, and when, will determine his potential fantasy value in 2024.
