Pontus Holmberg Making Season Debut Saturday
1 year agoToronto Maple Leafs center Pontus Holmberg is set to make his season debut Saturday night on the road against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Swede began the season with the AHL's Toronto Marlies but will debut as the club's fourth-line center in a rematch of last year's Round 1 matchup versus the Lightning. Holmberg skated in 37 games with the Leafs last year and collected five goals and 13 points in that time. He also added a solid 10 goals and 22 points across 38 games with the Marlins while he has a goal and an assist across a pair of AHL contests this season. While he has some offensive touch, Holmberg is firmly a defense-first, bottom-six center that can remain well off the fantasy radar at this time. Rookie pivot Fraser Minten is the likely healthy scratch to make room for Holmberg's debut.
