Playmaking Artemi Panarin Makes in Three Straight on Saturday
6 years agoColumbus Blue Jackets forward Artemi Panarin recorded an assist on Saturday, marking his third consecutive game with a helper. While the point production is what we have come to expect from Panarin, Saturday night's game gave Panarin owners reason for pause as well. Panarin was used on the second power-play unit, not in his regular spot on the top unit, and put only two shots on net for the third time in the last five games. For a player that averaged 3.67 shots per game for the first 12 games of the season, his 2.4 shots per game average over the last five games is a little surprising. It is likely a trend that will pass soon, but it is potentially a reason to avoid Panarin in daily formats until his shot rates return.
