PJ Morlando Undergoes Ulnar Nerve Transposition
2 mins agoMiami Marlins outfield prospect PJ Morlando (elbow) had an ulnar nerve transposition on his left (non-throwing) elbow on Wednesday, according to MLB.com's Christina De Nicola. The timetable to return to play for Morlando is eight to 10 weeks. As a result, he will be replaced on the team's Spring Breakout roster. The 19-year-old was the 16th overall pick last year by Miami. Morlando only played in one game with Single-A Jupiter last summer due to a lumbar stress reaction in his back after he was drafted and now he'll get a late start to his first professional season. The 6-foot-3, 198-pounder was one of the more advanced high-school hitters in last year's draft from the left side of the plate. There is 30-homer upside for Morlando, but he is obviously at least several years away from potentially making his major-league debut, and the injuries aren't helping.
