5 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates released catcher Francisco Cervelli (concussion) on Wednesday. The 33-year-old was on a minor league rehab assignment but had been out since late May and was hitting just .193/.279/.248 with a homer and five RBI in 109 at-bats this season. Cervelli had a career-high 12 homers -- his first time ever with double-digit dingers -- and 57 RBI in 2018. He's had a long history of head injuries over his career, and it might be a long shot that he resurfaces at the big league level again if another team gives him a shot.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
