Pirates Bring Andrew McCutchen Back On One-Year Deal
1 year agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates re-signed outfielder Andrew McCutchen to a one-year, $5 million deal on Tuesday, according to sources. The five-time All-Star and former National League MVP with the Pirates in 2013 will return to Pittsburgh for another year after hitting a respectable .256/.378/.397 with 12 home runs, 43 RBI, 19 doubles, 11 stolen bases and 55 runs scored in 473 plate appearances and 112 games in 2023. The bad news is he's now 37 years old and was forced to miss the last month of the season due to a partial tear of his left Achilles. Keeping him as the primary designated hitter should help keep him healthy, but fantasy managers can't expect McCutchen to provide much with his legs while producing moderate power numbers on a team that isn't expected to be in contention in 2024.
