Pirates Acquire Abrahan Gutierrez From Phillies
3 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates acquired catcher Abrahan Gutierrez from the Philadelphia Phillies for relief pitcher Braeden Ogle on Friday, according to Jake Crouse of MLB.com. Gutierrez was one of the prospects Pittsburgh was set to acquire in the Tyler Anderson trade with Philadelphia that fell apart after concerns were brought up over the medical reports of pitcher Cristian Hernandez. Over 50 games at Single-A this season, Gutierrez is slashing .288/.420/.429 with five home runs, 32 RBI and 30 runs scored. Meanwhile Ogle has looked good at Triple-A this season, going 2-2 with a 3.13 ERA, 1.326 WHIP and 30.7 percent strikeout rate over 31 2/3 innings of work.
