Phillip Evans Makes Pirates' Opening Day Roster
4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates third baseman Phillip Evans will be on the Opening Day roster, according to The Athletic's Rob Biertempful. Evans has gotten on base at a high clip this spring, batting .371 with a .452 on-base percentage in 14 games as he comes off a 2020 campaign in which he slashed .359/.444/.487 in 11 games. He will serve as the likely backup to Ke'Bryan Hayes at third and Colin Moran at first this year, and while he has limited pop with his 10 to 15 homer potential, he's worth looking at in deep, OBP leagues as a late round target.
