Phillies Trying To Close Deal With J.T. Realmuto
4 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies may be getting close to re-signing catcher J.T. Realmuto and are trying to close the deal. Their offer is believed to be around $110 million. The Phillies and Braves have mutual interest in the All-Star backstop, but Atlanta is thought to prefer a shorter deal. The Phillies have been strongly linked to bringing Realmuto back after two strong seasons for them the last two years, and he's also their last chance to make a play for a top-tier position player in free agency. The Braves emerged as a late suitor, but they already have Travis d'Arnaud and are unlikely to top Philadelphia's offer, therefore they are a long shot. This situation is coming to a head, and we expect the Phils to land Realmuto at some point this week. The 29-year-old was an All-Star in 2018 and 2019 when he hit a combined .276/.334/.489 with 46 home runs, 157 RBI and even 12 steals in 270 games. He'll be the first backstop off the board in fantasy drafts yet again.
