Veteran infielder Trevor Plouffe signed a minor league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies today after he was granted his release from the Texas Rangers. The 31-year-old signed with that club in February, but never reached the majors, eventually asking for his release. Plouffe, who spent his first seven seasons with the Minnesota Twins, is a lifetime .242 hitter, though he hit a measly .198 in 100 games between Oakland and Tampa Bay last season. With the Phillies, he also sees a tough road to the majors, as the club has a litany of fresh, young faces in their current infield.--RDelgado
