Phillies Officially Sign Matt Strahm
2 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies officially signed free-agent left-hander Matt Strahm to a two-year deal on Friday, according to president of baseball operations David Dombrowski. Strahm will make $15 million on the two-year deal. The 31-year-old southpaw reliever will make an improving Phillies bullpen better in 2023. He posted a 3.83 ERA (3.72 FIP), a 1.23 WHIP, his first four career saves and 52 strikeouts in 44 2/3 relief innings over 50 appearances for the Boston Red Sox last season. Strahm could have some appeal in holds leagues as a setup man in Philadelphia, but he's unlikely to see many save chances, if any at all over the course of the season. Strahm has a career 3.81 ERA (4.03 FIP), a 1.21 WHIP and a 25.3 percent strikeout rate in seven big-league seasons.
