2 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies acquired closer Gregory Soto and infielder Kody Clemens from the Detroit Tigers on Saturday in exchange for infielder Nick Maton, outfielder Matt Vierling and catcher Donny Sands. The 27-year-old Soto had a career-high 30 saves for the Tigers in 2022, but his fantasy stock is likely to fall with the move to Philadelphia and their closer-by-committee situation that also includes Craig Kimbrel, Seranthony Dominguez and Jose Alvarado. If the left-handed Soto can't limit his walks (12.9% BB rate last year), he could regress in 2023. Clemens, the son of Roger Clemens, made his major-league debut in 2022 and hit .145 with five homers, 17 RBI and 13 runs scored in 56 games. He'll give the Phillies flexibility on the infield as a bench bat.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
