Philip Rivers Possibly Ends Chargers Career With Loss
5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers guided the team to one last loss on Sunday against the Chiefs, and it may be the end of an era. Rivers completed 31 passes for 381 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in what might possibly be his final game as a member of the squad. It was one of Rivers' roughest seasons under center for the Chargers, finishing up with just 23 touchdowns, his fewest in over a decade. His 20 interceptions ties for the second-most he's ever thrown in a season, and while his 4,615 passing yards were the most he's posted in four years, the 5-11 record was a huge disappointment after last year's playoff berth. Rivers has insisted that he's intending on playing another season in the NFL, but even he admits it may not be with LA. The 38-year-old is an unrestricted free agent.

Philip Rivers Would Consider Returning To Play For Saints
3 years agoRetired quarterback Philip Rivers said that he hasn't heard from the New Orleans Saints, but he would consider coming out of retirement to play for them if they were interested. Jameis Winston (knee) suffered a season-ending torn ACL in the Week 8 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Saints will have to choose between Taysom Hill (concussion) -- who has missed the last two games with a concussion -- or Trevor Siemian to lead their offense heading into a Week 9 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons. The 39-year-old Rivers has very little left, but he did throw 24 touchdowns to 11 interceptions with the Indianapolis Colts last year, and he might be an improvement over Hill/Siemian, at least in the passing game. This will probably amount to nothing, but it's an intriguing possibility if the Saints aren't sold on the Hill/Siemian combination.
