Phil Mickelson Wins WGC Mexico In Playoff
7 years agoPhil Mickelson ended the longest drought in his professional career by winning the World Golf Championships in Mexico in a one-hole playoff over Justin Thomas. It had been 101 tournaments and almost five years since his last win at the 2013 British Open at Muirfield. Mickelson was the oldest player in the field and is now the oldest player to win a WGC event. "I don't know what to say," said Mickelson. "It's been a tough go the last four years not playing my best, but to have the belief that I was going to get there and to finally break through and do it was incredible." Mickelson will look to make it two in a row when he plays the Arnold Palmer Invitational in two weeks.
