Peter Alonso Notches First MLB Hit on Thursday
6 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Peter Alonso went 1-for-4 with a single and two strikeouts in his team's 2-0 shutout victory over the Washington Nationals on Thursday. After starting the day 0-for-3 against Washington ace Max Scherzer, Alonso picked up his first major league hit off relief pitcher Justin Miller in the eighth inning. Things won't get easier for the young first baseman, as the Mets are scheduled to face Washington's Stephen Strasburg on Saturday. Keep an eye on Alonso, however, as he is still a potential breakout player in New York.
