Peter Alonso Launches Moonshot As Mets Win Fourth Straight
5 years agoAfter the New York Mets went ahead in the seventh inning Wednesday afternoon in Minnesota, they ran wild in the eighth. The club scored six runs, with the highlight of the frame being the mammoth, two-run home run off the bat of first baseman Peter Alonso. The rookie hit his 31st home run of the year and his first since the All-Star break. It measured at 474 feet, the longest Mets home run in the Statcast era. For Alonso, this could be the game that awakens his bat, as he's struggled since the All-Star break, having recorded just one hit in 13 plate appearances heading into Wednesday's game.
