Pete Fairbanks Tosses Bullpen Session Saturday
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays pitcher Pete Fairbanks (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Saturday. According to manager Kevin Cash, all reports were good on his first bullpen session since landing on the injured list late July. There is no timetable for his return, but Fairbanks is trending in the right direction. He will continue to ramp up his activity and begin a rehab assignment soon. The Rays traded incumbent closer Diego Castillo to the Seattle Mariners at the MLB trade deadline; Fairbanks is expected to see save opportunities for Tampa Bay once activated. The 27-year-old converted 5-for-6 save chances, owning a 3.48 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and a 37:15 K: BB across 31 innings in 2021. Fantasy managers in search of saves should continue to stash Fairbanks in most league formats.
