4 months agoTampa Bay Rays closer Pete Fairbanks locked down a 2-1 victory with a scoreless ninth for his 20th save of the season in Sunday's game against the Reds. Fairbanks gave up a hit and struck out one batter in his inning of work. The right-hander now has a 3.11 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP. The Rays traded away ace set-up man Jason Adam on Sunday, so Fairbanks appears to have the closer role all to himself the rest of the way. He should be counted on as a good source of saves for the remainder of the season.--Brian Buckey - RotoBaller
