Pete Fairbanks' MRI Results Come Back "Pretty Clean"
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Pete Fairbanks (shoulder) had his MRI come back with "pretty clean" results after his early exit on Wednesday with shoulder inflammation, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Manager Kevin Cash said that the team got "pretty good news" from the MRI, and they are optimistic that he won't miss as much time as they had anticipated. That's good news for Fairbanks, who has been one of the key players in the back end of the bullpen this year where he's gone 3-4 with five saves, a 3.48 ERA, 1.323 WHIP and 27.6 percent strikeout rate over 31 innings of work. It still sounds like he will probably face an IL stint, but it shouldn't be too long, and managers should continue to stash him on their roster.
