Pete Alonso Likely To Miss Time
1 year agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso (wrist) will likely hit the injured list, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, and could miss a few weeks of action. The slugger was out of the lineup for Thursday's loss to the Atlanta Braves after he exited Wednesday's contest following a hit by a pitch to the wrist. This is a tough blow for fantasy managers, as Alonso is one of the most dangerous hitters in baseball and is slashing .231/.326/.546 with a league-leading 22 bombs, 41 runs, 49 RBI, and a pair of steals across 62 games. Mark Vientos could see more time at first in the 28-year-old's absence. The second-year player is only batting .162 over 13 games, but he posted a .333 average and 1.104 OPS with 13 homers through 38 games at Triple-A, making a decent buy-low bat.
