Pete Alonso Homers In Mets Win
4 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso hit his 12th home run of the season in the Mets' 10-6 win over the Phillies on Thursday. Despite the home run, his lone hit of the contest, Alonso remains mired in a 2-for-23 slump which has brought his season average down to .215. It has been a disappointing and inconsistent season for Alonso, though he remains in the top-10 in the National League in homers with 12. Despite the current slump, Alonso can break out at any moment. As shown on Thursday, even in the midst of a slump, managers should remain patient with Alonso as we head down the stretch. Perhaps the solo shot on Thursday will jump-start Alonso's bat for the final week of the season.
