Pedro Severino To Start Season With Orioles
Pedro Severino will start the season on the big league roster, per Baltimore Baseball's Rich Dubroff. Battery mate Chance Sisco will also start the season with the O's. Severino split time with Sisco behind home plate last season, slashing .250/.322/.388 with five home runs and 21 RBI across 32 starts. While he performed better than Sisco last season, Severino has had a poor showing this spring, managing just a .184/.238/.342 slash line. Given that catcher was a timeshare last season, he hasn't performed well this spring, and the O's have their hopeful catcher of the future in Adley Rutschman, it will be difficult for fantasy managers to put trust in Severino to start the season.

Padres, Pedro Severino Reportedly Agree To Contract Monday
Pedro Severino reportedly agreed on a contract Monday, per MLB.com's Manny Randhawa. The agreement is a split contract that will pay him $1.95 million if he reaches the Major Leagues and includes $550,000 in performance incentives. The 29-year-old missed a chunk of the 2022 season while serving an 80-game suspension for a violation of MLB's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program, but he has a .235/.306/.371 slash line in eight seasons. While the Padres generally are a favorable fantasy lineup, Severino will likely struggle for playing time, limiting his fantasy value, even in deep two-catcher leagues.

Pedro Severino Suspended 80 Games
Pedro Severino was suspended 80 games without pay by MLB on Tuesday after testing positive for Clomiphene, a performance-enhancing substance. Severino was slated to serve as Omar Narvaez's primary back this season, but he'll now miss half of the year after violating the league's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment program. The 28-year-old Dominican spent the last three seasons with the Baltimore Orioles, and he hit .248/.308/.690 with 11 home runs, 46 RBI and 32 runs scored in 419 plate appearances over 113 games in 2021. With Severino now out for the first half of the season, Mario Feliciano and Brett Sullivan figure to compete for backup duties behind the dish.

Brewers, Pedro Severino Agree To Deal Sunday
Pedro Severino to a one-year, $1.9 million deal with a possible $400,ooo in incentives, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. Severino spent the past three seasons with the Baltimore Orioles, putting up below-average offensive numbers every year. Last season was his worst in Baltimore, as he slashed .248/.308/.383 with 11 home runs, 46 RBI and 32 runs. He'll compete for at-bats with fellow catcher Omar Narvaez, with the latter penciled in as the starter heading into next season. Severino has little fantasy value and should only be drafted in deep two-catcher leagues.
