Pedro Leon Set To Make Major-League Debut
4 months agoHouston Astros outfield prospect Pedro Leon is set to make his major league debut, according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. Leon is set to fill the roster spot originally occupied by Joey Loperfido, who was dealt to the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday evening. Leon has spent the past three seasons at the Triple-A level but has taken a significant step forward in his development this summer. Through 93 games at Triple-A Sugar Land, the 26-year-old sits with a strong .297/.377/.519 line, 19 home runs, 74 RBI, and 23 stolen bases. He was on pace to smash his previous career-highs. Leon could be a name to add in deeper AL-only formats this week, as he could carve out a role in the starting nine. With Kyle Tucker (shin) still sidelined, Leon could have a chance to claim everyday right field duties as Chas McCormick has disappointed this season with a .208/.272/.318 line.
