Pedro Baez Beginning His Rehab Assignment
3 years agoHouston Astros relief pitcher Pedro Baez (shoulder) is starting a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday with Single-A Fayetteville. Baez was able to throw live batting practice last week and is progressing from a shoulder injury that has kept him out for all of this year so far. The 33-year-old right-hander spent the first seven seasons of his big league career with the Los Angeles Dodgers, posting a 3.03 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 369 strikeouts, 120 walks and three saves in 356 relief innings. He could become a key setup man in Houston's bullpen in the second half of the season and might also be worth a look in deep saves/holds leagues if he can return to his pre-injury form.
