Paul Skenes Promoted To Double-A Monday
1 year agoPittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Paul Skenes was promoted from Low-A Bradenton to Double-A Altoona Monday, per MLB.com's Justice delos Santos. The 21-year-old was the first overall pick in the 2023 draft and is currently baseball's No. 3 overall prospect, per MLB Pipeline. He is expected to get his first Double-A start on Saturday. Skenes has pitched four scoreless innings with five strikeouts across the Florida Complex League and Low-A and should not exceed 20 total innings this season, per general manager Ben Cherington. While fantasy managers will have to wait until at least next season to get a glimpse of Skenes against big-league competition, the fact that he is progressing so quickly is very encouraging for keeper and dynasty leagues.
