Paul Sewald Remains Perfect, Grabs Ninth Save
2 years agoSeattle Mariners right-handed pitcher Paul Sewald notched his ninth save of the season on Thursday after shutting down the Oakland Athletics to preserve a 5-3 win. Sewald threw a perfect frame, fanning two in the process. He now has a 2.65 ERA and 0.76 WHIP and has converted all nine of his save opportunities. The 32-year-old has looked fantastic in Andres Munoz' absence and should continue to get save chances once Munoz returns, although they may return to a committee approach. For now, though, Sewald is an elite closing option.
