Paul Sewald Records His Seventh Save In Tuesday's Win
2 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Paul Sewald pitched a scoreless ninth inning in Tuesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles to earn his seventh save of the year. He retired each of the three batters he faced in the inning, recording two strikeouts along the way. The 32-year-old is now 7-for-9 in save opportunities this year. He's been pulling away as the team's favored closer lately, locking down five saves this month while his main competitor for the ninth, Diego Castillo, has just two saves in June. Sewald owns a stellar 2.60 ERA and 0.72 WHIP on the season and should be universally rostered at this point.
