Paul Sewald Grabs 17th Save Sunday
1 year agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Paul Sewald earned another save on Sunday, shutting down the Tampa Bay Rays to secure a 7-6 win. Sewald tossed a perfect ninth, striking out two in the process. That makes back-to-back saves against the MLB's best team, with a total of 2 ⅔ scoreless innings thrown over that span. The 33-year-old has been solid this year for the M's, pitching to a 2.62 ERA and 0.93 WHIP with 47 strikeouts in 34 ⅓ IP. Even with a few blown saves recently, he appears to be locked into the closer role for the time being. He is one of the better fantasy options out of the bullpen.
