Paul Sewald Escapes With 33rd Save Monday
1 year agoArizona Diamondbacks closer Paul Sewald picked up his 33rd save of the season in Monday's 4-3 win over the Mets. Sewald came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth up by one. He allowed a leadoff walk and got the first out at first on a sacrifice bunt. The runner advanced to third on a steal before he got the second out on a strikeout and then allowed another walk before finally getting the final out on a flyout. It wasn't pretty, but Sewald has been stellar all season, converting all but five save opportunities with a 3.16 ERA and an 11.84 K/9 rate. He should remain a high-end fantasy option down the stretch.
