Paul Sewald Earns Friday's Save
2 years agoSeattle Mariners right-hander Paul Sewald threw a perfect ninth inning Friday to earn the save of the 5-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies. He struck out two, and the save was his third of the season. Sewald's posted a 3.38 ERA, 25.0% strikeout rate, and 1.00 WHIP over eight innings so far in 2023. It's after the 32-year-old pitched to a 2.67 ERA and 29.8% strikeout rate with a 0.77 WHIP last season. Sewald looks like the closer in Seattle right now, but it could change into a committee when Andres Munoz, who has one save to his name, returns from the injured list. Either way, he should provide fantasy owners with close to 20 saves this year.
