Paul Goldschmidt Resting Thursday
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt is not in the team's starting lineup on Thursday against the Miami Marlins. With Goldy taking a day off, Alec Burleson will fill in at first base and will bat seventh in the lineup against Marlins right-hander Eury Perez. Goldschmidt hasn't been the problem for the disappointing Cardinals this year, and he's gone 6-for-23 (.261) with a homer, four RBI and two runs scored in six games to begin the month of July. Overall, the 35-year-old MVP from a season ago is slashing .284/.370/.482 with an .851 OPS, 15 home runs, 20 doubles, 46 RBI, eight stolen bases and 52 runs scored in 84 games. Goldschmidt isn't quite performing at the elite level that he was last year, but he remains a must-start for fantasy purposes when he's active.
