Paul Goldschmidt Removed Early In Season Finale
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt was removed early on in the team's season finale against the Chicago Cubs. His removal wasn't injury-related. Manager Mike Shildt opted to remove multiple key players early on to rest them. Goldy went 0-for-1 in the game before he was taken out. The 34-year-old veteran got off to a slow start this year, but really came around strong eventually. Over 158 games, he slashed .294/.365/.514 with 31 home runs, 12 stolen bases, 99 RBI and 102 runs. It was his best season with the Cardinals so far by just about every measure.
