Patriots Sign Wide Receiver Jalen Hurd
1 year agoWide receiver Jalen Hurd signed with the New England Patriots after impressing at a workout for free agents. Hurd, a former five-star recruit who played running back and wide receiver for the Tennessee Volunteers and Baylor Bears, was drafted in the third round by the San Francisco 49ers in 2019. Unfortunately, he never had a chance to prove himself, as injuries caused him to miss each of his first three seasons. The 49ers released him in November 2021 after he suffered a preseason knee injury, and he didn't play in 2022. Hurd has the size and speed to be a playmaker if he can make the Patriots' final roster and stay healthy. The 230-pounder set a Tennessee state high school record for rushing yards, and he gained 4,282 yards from scrimmage in four years of Power Five college football.
