Patrik Laine Poised To Move On From Columbus
10 months agoColumbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine will likely suit up for a different team next season. According to NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, Laine is working with the Blue Jackets on a trade, adding that the Finnish star wants a "fresh start." Laine signed a four-year, $34.8 million extension with Columbus in 2022 after being acquired from Winnipeg a year earlier. However, the former All-Star has been plagued by injuries during his time in Ohio and skated just 18 times with the Blue Jackets in 2023-24. The 26-year-old entered the NHL/NHL Players' Association Player Assistance Program on Jan. 28 and remains in the program, according to LeBrun. Laine has tallied 204 goals and 388 points in 480 career games. He could still be a big piece for fantasy managers if he finds himself in a good situation team-wise and stays healthy.

Patrik Laine Unavailable Against Canucks
3 weeks agoMontreal Canadiens winger Patrik Laine (illness) will not play in Tuesday's matchup against the Vancouver Canucks. He is battling an illness and will be sidelined for a second consecutive contest. After an impressive start in Montreal, Laine has struggled to make an impact in recent weeks. He has 14 goals and 24 points in 34 games for the season. Joel Armia stepped into Laine's spot on the second line Saturday against the Calgary Flames. He has been held off the score sheet nine times in his past 10 appearances, making Armia an unreliable fantasy option. The 31-year-old has notched 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists) in 63 games across this season.

Patrik Laine Collects Two Assists Saturday
1 month agoMontreal Canadiens winger Patrik Laine played his part in Finland's 4-3 overtime victory against Sweden at the 4 Nations Face-Off on Saturday with two assists. He logged his first helper when Florida Panthers forward Anton Lundell put the Finns on the board midway through the first frame, and Laine's second assist came in a power-play situation as Carolina Hurricanes star Mikko Rantanen gave Finland a 2-1 lead with 14 seconds remaining in the period. These are Laine's first points in the tournament. This may help him get going again offensively, as Laine didn't record any points in Montreal's final eight games leading up to the 4 Nations Face-Off. He has totaled 12 goals and 18 points in 28 games during the 2024-25 NHL campaign.

Patrik Laine A Game-Time Call On Saturday
3 months agoMontreal Canadiens winger Patrik Laine (illness) is a game-time decision for Saturday's tilt against Dallas. He has missed four games due to illness. Michael Pezzetta has played during Laine's absence, but he has seen minimal action and logged just 3:05 of ice time in Friday's 3-2 overtime victory against Washington. Laine, whose season debut was delayed by a knee injury, has been a major threat on the power play with the Canadiens. He has potted eight power-play goals across 13 appearances. In total, Laine has notched 10 points this campaign. Dallas boasts the league's best penalty kill, so it won't be easy for Laine to make an impact if he's back in the lineup on Saturday.

Patrik Laine Misses Third Consecutive Game
3 months agoMontreal Canadiens winger Patrik Laine (illness) will remain sidelined for Monday's matchup against Vancouver, missing a third consecutive contest. The Finnish forward exited the lineup last week due to flu-like symptoms. Laine has played well with his new team, recording eight goals and 10 points in 13 appearances. He has notched all his goals with the man advantage, which ties him for the fifth-most power-play goals in the league. Michael Pezzetta has joined the lineup as Laine's replacement, with Joel Armia and Brendan Gallagher also getting action on the second line.
