Patrick Corbin Turns In Best Start Of Season
3 years agoWashington Nationals starter Patrick Corbin turned in a strong performance against the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday. The Nationals' jumped out to an early first inning 4-0 lead and that was all the southpaw needed, as he held the Phillies at bay allowing just a lone first-inning run across seven innings. A starter who has struggled mightily since 2019, Corbin desperately needed to go deep into a game while pitching well and not allowing a home run. Thursday's start drops Corbin's ERA down to 6.19 and WHIP to 1.38 so it's going to take a few more strong outings before his full-season numbers look acceptable. If you're a believer that and buying early on a Corbin rebound, now is the time to invest. Slated to face the Cubs in Chicago in his next start, the matchup is intriguing. Toe the water carefully, but it's okay to go in.
