Parker Meadows Leading Off In Spring Opener
1 min agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows is batting in the leadoff spot in their first spring training contest on Saturday afternoon. Meadows became the team's go-to leadoff hitter during the final stretch of the 2024 campaign and will likely return to this role to open the 2025 season. Meadows held an underwhelming .135/.247/.284 line with a hefty 36.5 percent strikeout rate over his first 32 games but was eventually optioned to Triple-A. However, when he returned to the majors in August, he flipped the script. Over his final 47 games, Meadows posted a strong .296/.340/.500 slash line with six home runs and five stolen bases. Given his strong finish and role as the team's leadoff hitter, Meadows could be poised for a breakout campaign in 2025, as he carries five-category upside.
