Parker Bridwell Unable to Escape Second Inning in Start on Friday
7 years agoFilling in for the injured Matt Shoemaker, Angels starter Parker Bridwell had the shortest start of his career Friday against the Athletics as he completed only 1 2/3 innings of his 2018 debut. Bridwell allowed six runs on seven hits — three of which were home runs — but managed to avoid the loss thanks to the Angels' scoring outburst. Making 20 starts last year, Bridwell recorded a 3.64 ERA and 1.198 WHIP over 121 innings with Los Angeles. Bridwell was likely going to be sent back down to the minors after Shoemaker returned from the DL, and a performance like his on Friday makes it even less likely he'd remain with the Angels long-term.
