The Florida Panthers have signed defenseman Gustav Forsling to an eight-year contract extension that carries a $5.75 million average annual value. It's a nice story for a player that the team claimed off waivers from the Carolina Hurricanes on Jan. 9, 2021. The 27-year-old enjoyed a breakout season in the 2022-23 campaign, tallying 13 goals and 41 points across 82 games while averaging a career-high 23:26 of ice time per game. He has followed that up with a healthy nine goals and 31 points across 62 games this season while his eye-popping plus-43 rating is the best mark in the NHL. The Panthers also announced a two-year contract extension for forward Jonah Gadjovich on Thursday. The 25-year-old has recorded two goals and four points while skating just 7:26 per night across 33 games this season.--Brenton Kemp
