Bulls Are "Optimistic" That Josh Giddey Will Play Wednesday
16 hours agoChicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey (wrist) was unable to play in the team's final two games of the regular season, and now there's some doubt surrounding his status for their play-in game against the Miami Heat on Wednesday. One bit of good news came from head coach Billy Donovan when he said that there is a "high-level optimism" surrounding his ability to play. In his first season with the Bulls, Giddey posted career-highs in multiple categories and averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.5 threes per game with shooting splits of .465/.378/.781. If he's unable to play, they're likely to lean a bit more on Kevin Huerter and Talen Horton-Tucker at times.Source: KC Johnson
Kendall George Hits Two Long Balls, Swipes A Bag
16 hours agoLos Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Kendall George hit two home runs and swiped a bag during Sunday's contest against High-A Lansing. In this game, George would tally three RBI, score three runs, and hold a 2:1 BB:K. These were George's first long balls of the regular season. Before Sunday, George held an underwhelming .120/.273/.120 slash line through the first seven games of the regular season. During this slow start, George did not tally an extra-base hit. Last summer, the 36th overall pick from the 2023 MLB Draft spent the entire 2024 campaign with Low-A Rancho. Across 86 games, he posted a strong .279/.384/.328 slash line. Fantasy managers should expect the Atascocita HS product to remain with High-A during most of the 2025 season.Source: MiLB.com
Chase Petty Tosses Five Shutout Frames
16 hours agoCincinnati Reds pitching prospect Chase Petty tossed five shutout innings against Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon. Petty struck out four batters in this outing and allowed just three hits. He served up one free pass. Since allowing six earned runs and six hits in his first start of the campaign, Petty has begun to turn the corner. Over his last two outings, Petty has allowed just one run with a 1.33 WHIP across nine overall frames. Last summer, Petty spent most of his time with Double-A before receiving a brief taste of Triple-A. Through 127 innings of work with Double-A Chattanooga, Petty posted a modest 4.39 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP. The former 26th overall pick could push for a mid-season MLB debut if he continues to succeed with Triple-A Louisville.Source: MiLB.com
Austin Dillon Nabs His First Top-10 Finish Of The 2025 Season At Bristol
17 hours agoRichard Childress Racing's Austin Dillon placed 10th at the end of the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Beginning the race from the 17th position, Dillon did not do much during the first stage. He spent the whole stage fighting to maintain a top-20 running position; by the end of it, he was 19th. In the second stage, Dillon did take a contrarian pit strategy by pitting for tires on lap 182, getting him off-sequence with the leaders. However, this would not do much in the context of his overall running position as, by the end of stage two, he placed 18th and failed to score stage points throughout the day. In the final stage, Dillon executed on his pit stops and finally made up ground. The No. 3 Chevrolet driver kept his car clean and then finished in the 10th position by the end of the race. This was Dillon's first top-10 finish at Bristol since 2020 and his first top-10 finish of the 2025 season.Source: NASCAR.com

Christopher Bell Finishes In The Top 10 After Falling Back Midway At Bristol
17 hours agoChristopher Bell of Joe Gibbs Racing placed eighth at the end of the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sunday. Starting the race from the seventh position, Bell's race was up and down, but he ran inside the top 10 throughout most of the event. In the first stage, Bell kept pace with the rest of the pack and only moved up one position to end the stage in sixth, scoring multiple stage points. In the second stage, Bell moved further up the pack and into the top five. The No. 20 Toyota driver ended the stage in the third position, gathering eight stage points and setting himself up to compete for a top finish. In the third stage, however, Bell fell back as others passed him, and despite some pit strategy by pitting earlier than the other leading drivers, he made it as far as the eighth position. Bell's finish in this week's race marks his fifth consecutive top-10 finish at Bristol and his sixth overall in this Cup career.Source: NASCAR.com

Chase Briscoe Quietly Scores First Career Top-Five Finish At Bristol
17 hours agoJoe Gibbs Racing's Chase Briscoe finished fourth in Sunday's Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Beginning the race from the 14th position, Briscoe quietly and steadily made his way through the field throughout the entire race. By the end of the first stage, Briscoe made it up to 11th and fell short of earning stage points. In the second stage, Briscoe cracked the top 10 and finished the stage in ninth, earning two stage points. In the final stage, Briscoe and his team executed on their pit stops, navigated traffic efficiently, and raced up to the fourth position, scoring his third top-5 result of the 2025 season. This finish also was a new career best for Briscoe at Bristol and the first top-5 ever in his Cup career at the site.Source: NASCAR.com
Jhoan Duran Pitches A Clean Inning On Sunday
18 hours agoMinnesota Twins closer Jhoan Duran pitched a clean ninth inning in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Detroit Tigers. Although his 1.42 ERA in 6 1/3 innings pitched so far in the season is encouraging, it's unfortunate that he still has zero save opportunities through 16 games. The Twins are now sitting at 5-11, so hopefully, they can turn it around and provide Duran with some more opportunities soon. All that aside, Duran has looked effective in his seven appearances, with an opponent batting average of .136 to go with the low ERA. Although the strikeout numbers are down, it's too early to sound the alarm. More importantly, the Twins need to give him some more consistent opportunities. Next for the Twins is a three-game home series against the New York Mets.Source: ESPN
Mauricio Dubon Steals Two Bases On Sunday
18 hours agoHouston Astros utility man Mauricio Dubon had a nice afternoon Sunday, going 1-for-2 with one RBI, two runs scored, one walk, and two stolen bases. The two stolen bases, RBI, and runs scored were all his season's firsts. For the season, Dubon is slashing a poor .105/.190/.158, which are well below his career averages of .259/.295/.375. Those rostering Dubon should consider looking elsewhere for production, as he is batting at the bottom of the Astros' order and not playing consistently in their lineup. Dubon will look to keep it going this week as Houston travels to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals on Monday for a three-game series.Source: ESPN
Spencer Jones Hits Two Home Runs On Sunday
19 hours agoNew York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones went 3-for-5 with two home runs during their contest against Double-A Reading on Sunday. This was Jones' second multi-hit game of the regular season. Through the first nine games of the Somerset Patriots' regular season, Jones has posted a strong .290/.421/.613 slash line with one double and three home runs. He has tallied seven RBI, scored eight runs, and swiped three bags. Jones is considered the No. 3 prospect in the Yankee system on MLB.com. Last summer, the 23-year-old spent the entire campaign with Double-A. Across 122 games, he held a modest .259/.336/.452 slash line with 17 long balls. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he could be in the mix for a promotion to Triple-A if he continues to produce.Source: MiLB.com
Eric Wagaman With Three Knocks In Marlins 11-4 Win On Sunday
19 hours agoMiami Marlins first baseman Eric Wagaman went 3-for-3 on Sunday with two runs scored and two walks. It was a nice afternoon for Wagaman, who is now slashing .231/.318/.359 on the season. The Marlins completed their three-game series against the Washington Nationals on Sunday and took two of three from them over the weekend. The Marlins had Wagaman batting in the cleanup spot on Sunday against a left-handed pitcher, which throughout the season could set up nicely for him as Xavier Edwards and Kyle Stowers batting in front of him both supporting a .406 and .410 on-base percentage, respectively. All that said, Wagaman is not recommended in most 12-team leagues but could be a pick-up in deeper leagues for those looking for a corner infielder if he continues to hit. Next for the Marlins is a three-game series starting Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.Source: ESPN
Coby Mayo Finding Power At Triple-A
19 hours agoBaltimore Orioles infield prospect Coby Mayo has begun to find his power at Triple-A. After starting the Triple-A regular season, posting an underwhelming .125/.267/.250 line with one long ball, Mayo has begun to flip the script. He has gone deep in each of his previous two games and is riding an impressive seven-game hitting streak. During this streak, Mayo has held a .360/.469/.720 slash line with three doubles, two round-trippers, and eight RBI. He has also shown a strong eye at the plate, posting a 6:7 BB:K. Last summer, Mayo made his MLB debut but tallied just four hits (all singles) across his first 17-game stint. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as Mayo could push for a return to the majors. However, he may need to wait for an injury in the Baltimore infield to be in contention.Source: MiLB.com
Willson Contreras Smacks His First Home Run Of The Season
19 hours agoSt. Louis Cardinals first baseman Willson Contreras hit his first home run of the 2025 season against the Philadelphia Phillies' ace, Zack Wheeler. The home run was a two-run shot in the fourth inning that opened up the scoring for the Cardinals and gave them a 2-0 lead. The Cardinals never looked back and walked away with the 7-0 win against the Phillies (9-6). On the afternoon, Contreras went 2-for-4 with the home run and a double. He is off to a slow start to begin his 2025 campaign, with a poor slash line of .158/.213/.263; however, Contreras is a career .256 hitter at the Major League level, so fantasy managers can expect him to pick it up as the season progresses. Up next for the Cardinals is a three-game series against the Houston Astros at home. Contreras will look to keep the hot bat going in that series.Source: ESPN
Nick Kurtz Launches Home Run No. 7
19 hours agoAthletics infield prospect Nick Kurtz launched his seventh home run of the Triple-A regular season on Saturday against El Paso. The former fourth overall pick in last year's MLB Draft has enjoyed an incredible start to the season and is nearing his MLB debut. Across his first 14 games at the Triple-A level, Kurtz has posted a .367/.409/.817 slash line with six doubles and seven round-trippers. He has tallied 22 RBI, scored 15 runs, and held a 5:15 BB:K. The Wake Forest product enjoyed a strong spring training as well, which allowed him the opportunity to begin the regular season at the top level of the minor leagues. After being drafted last summer, Kurtz saw a brief look at Low-A and Double-A and held an overall .368/.520/.763 slash line. Fantasy managers in 12-team formats should consider stashing Kurtz as he will be a must-start option when he reaches the big leagues.Source: MiLB.com
Hyeseong Kim Performing Well With Triple-A Oklahoma City
19 hours agoLos Angeles Dodgers infielder Hyeseong Kim has begun to find his footing with Triple-A Oklahoma City and could be nearing his MLB debut. Since going 0-for-4 in the season opening, Kim has posted a stellar .310/.385/.621 slash line with seven doubles and three home runs. He has swiped four bags, tallied 13 RBI, and scored 16 runs. Over his last six contests, Kim has begun to flash some power upside, launching three long balls with three doubles. Kim was initially expected to make the Opening Day roster after inking a three-year deal with the Dodgers during the winter. However, in the Cactus League, the 26-year-old posted a modest .207/.303/.310 slash line, which resulted in his demotion. Kim could be in the mix for an early MLB debut if he continues this impressive production.Source: MiLB.com
Yandy Diaz Homers In Rays Win On Sunday
19 hours agoTampa Bay Rays first baseman Yandy Diaz blasted his second home run of the season in Sunday's 8-3 win over the Atlanta Braves. The home run came in the first inning off Chris Sale, the 2024 NL Cy Young winner. Diaz has gotten off to a slow start to the season, but in his last six games, he has gone 7-for-23 (.304). So far this season, Diaz is now slashing .210/.242/.355, scoring eight runs with three RBI, to go along with the two home runs. Diaz is a career .287 hitter, so fantasy managers should expect him to turn it around as he's barrelling the ball up and still ranks in the 82nd percentile in hard-hit percentage. Next for Diaz and the Rays is a series against divisional rivals, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. Diaz will look to keep it going and stay hot at the plate.Source: ESPN
Jordan Lawlar Stays Hot On Sunday
19 hours agoArizona Diamondbacks infield prospect Jordan Lawlar went 2-for-5 with a home run during their contest against Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday. This was another strong showing for the infielder. Over his previous 10 contests with Triple-A Reno, Lawlar has posted a .349/.440/.605 slash line with five doubles, two home runs, and two stolen bases. He has tallied 10 RBI over this stretch and held a 6:15 BB:K. The 22-year-old is viewed as not only the top prospect in the desert but one of the best in the sport. He was able to earn a small taste of the majors in 2023 but could not return to the big leagues in 2024 due to numerous injuries. However, it appears the 22-year-old is healthy and performing at a high level at the top level of the minors. He is worth stashing in all 15+ team formats as he could return to the majors in the coming weeks.Source: MiLB.com
Roman Anthony Riding Four-Game Hitting Streak
19 hours agoBoston Red Sox outfield prospect Roman Anthony is riding a four-game hitting streak at Triple-A. Over his last four contests, the outfielder has held a strong .438/.471/.563 slash line with two doubles and three RBI. During this stretch, he has only struck out four times. However, before this recent surge, Anthony carried a modest .148/.361/.444 line with just four total hits (two long balls) over the first eight games of the Triple-A regular season. Anthony is considered the top prospect in Boston and the No. 2 in the sport on MLB Pipeline. The 20-year-old was almost able to win a spot on the Opening Day roster during camp but fell short in the competition. Anthony remains a high-upside stash candidate in all standard formats as he would carry elite five-category upside when he gets the call to the big leagues.Source: MiLB.com
Dustin Wolf Stands Tall On Sunday
21 hours agoCalgary Flames goaltender Dustin Wolf stopped 28 of the 30 shots he saw en route to defeating the San Jose Sharks on Sunday evening. The Flames needed to win this game to remain in playoff contention, and Wolf was able to remain strong. The Sharks opened the scoring in the first period when Tyler Toffoli beat Wolf on a wrist shot. His other blemish came in the second when Jan Rutta scored his third goal of the campaign. Wolf has played a lead role in Calgary's late-season playoff push. He has posted a strong 4-0-2 record over his last six games. During this stretch, the 23-year-old netminder has held a 2.30 GAA with a .914 save percentage. Wolf will have a tough task in his next start against the Golden Knights on Tuesday, but remains a strong play given his recent stretch of performances.Source: NHL.com
Corey Perry Scores Goal, Adds Assist On Sunday
21 hours agoEdmonton Oilers left wing Corey Perry scored a goal and added an assist during their 4-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday evening. Perry tallied the primary assist on Adam Henrique's 12th goal of the campaign during the second frame. Later in the third, Perry would find the back of the net to put the game out of reach. Perry has now scored in each of his previous two games. Over his last four games, Perry has tallied three points over his last four games, logged eight shots, and added five hits. However, prior to this recent stretch, the 39-year-old tallied just two points (one goal) over his last nine games. Through 79 games this season, the veteran forward has scored 18 goals, added 11 helpers, and logged 96 shots on goal. He should only be targeted in deeper formats during the final week of the campaign.Source: NHL.com
Junior Caminero Launches Key Three-Run Homer In Rays Win
21 hours agoTampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero had a massive three-run blast in the sixth inning that broke open his team's 8-3 win over the Braves. The 413-foot blast to left center was Caminero's third homer of the year. He also singled and scored in the first inning to go 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI. On the season, the 21-year-old top prospect is now hitting .280 (14-for-50) with three home runs, a .220 ISO, and a .352 wOBA. Caminero has a solid 46.2% hard-hit rate and will try to keep crushing as his Rays welcome in the Red Sox for an AL East series starting on Monday night. He'll look to build on his success from last week, when he went 7-for-22 (.318) with four of those hits going for extra bases, including all three of his home runs this season.Source: ESPN.com
Adam Fantilli Scores Twice In Victory
21 hours agoColumbus Blue Jackets center Adam Fantilli scored twice during their 4-1 victory over the Washington Capitals on Sunday evening. The Blue Jackets needed to win this game to remain in contention for a Wild Card. Fantilli would score his first goal in the second frame on a snap shot. Later in the third, Fantilli would strike for the second time, this time on a wrist shot. This was Fantilli's second-straight game finding the back of the net twice. Before this recent offensive surge, the former third overall pick tallied just one point (a goal) over his last five contests. The 20-year-old remains a strong play in all formats during the final week of the regular season. Fantilli has enjoyed a career season, logging 80 games and scoring 29 goals, and adding 23 helpers. He will look to stay hot on Tuesday against the Flyers.Source: NHL.com

Nikita Kucherov Tallies Three Points On Sunday
22 hours agoTampa Bay Lightning right wing Nikita Kucherov tallied three points during their 7-4 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday evening. Kucherov found the back of the net in the second period during 5-on-5 play. Later in the third, Kucherov would score his second goal of the contest and add the primary helper on Jake Guentzel's power-play goal. These three points put Kucherov in the driver's seat to win the Art Ross Trophy as Nathan MacKinnon, who holds the No. 2 spot, has been ruled out for the remainder of the regular season. Kucherov has enjoyed an impressive conclusion to the season, tallying 21 points (six goals) over his last 10 contests. Kucherov remains a must-start option in all formats in their final two games of the campaign.Source: NHL.com
Aroldis Chapman Slams The Door On White Sox
22 hours agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman earned his third save of the season on Sunday afternoon by closing out the Red Sox's 3-1 victory over the White Sox in Chicago. Chapman took the loss on Saturday, allowing a walk, stolen base, and walk-off single after entering the ninth inning in a tie game. He came in with a two-run lead on Sunday and had two strikeouts in the ninth, getting Luis Robert Jr. to start the inning and Michael A. Taylor to end the game. The 37-year-old veteran has 11 strikeouts in his seven innings and has converted each of his three save opportunities. The run he gave up on Saturday is the only run he has allowed all season, but he has now pitched in back-to-back games, so he may not be available as the Red Sox continue their road trip in Tampa Bay on Monday night.Source: ESPN.com
Morgan Geekie Scores In Fifth Straight Contest
22 hours agoBoston Bruins left wing Morgan Geekie found the back of the net in the fifth-straight contest during their victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday afternoon. Geekie found the back of the net in the second frame on a slap shot. During this impressive five-game stretch, Geekie has scored five goals and added six helpers. The 26-year-old has logged 13 shots on goal during and held a +8 rating during this impressive stretch. Over his last 13 contests, Geekie has been rather productive on the score sheet, scoring 10 goals and adding 11 helpers. Through 76 contests this season, Geekie has enjoyed a career season despite Boston's struggles scoring 17 goals and adding 22 helpers. He remains a solid play in their final game of the season against the Devils on Tuesday evening.Source: NHL.com
Jordan Walker Homers On Sunday In Cardinals Win
22 hours agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker slammed his second homer of the 2025 season on Sunday afternoon at Busch Stadium to help the Cardinals get past the Phillies, 7-0. Walker's two-run shot to left field came in the eighth inning off relief pitcher Carlos Hernandez and closed out the scoring for the day. Walker is hitting .275 with two home runs, two stolen bases, and a .336 wOBA in his 14 games this season. He looks much more comfortable at the plate this season after hitting only .201 last year, and he is still just 22 years old, so he still has plenty of breakout potential. The win on Sunday gave the Cardinals the series win over the Phillies and gives them a chance to get to .500 with a win on Monday night against the visiting Astros.Source: ESPN.com
Ilya Sorokin Stops 25 Shots In Victory
22 hours agoNew York Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin stopped all 25 shots he saw en route to defeating the New Jersey Devils on Sunday afternoon. Bo Horvat was able to break the scoreless tie in the second frame. The Devils held the slight advantage in the shot total, but Sorokin was able to lead the way. Sorokin has been sidelined since April 8 due to a lower-body injury but looked quite sharp in his return. Before his injury, Sorokin carried a 2-3 record with a 3.20 GAA and a .883 save percentage. The Islanders have been eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and the team may opt to rest Sorokin for their final two games. If he were to sit, Marcus Hogberg would likely see the starter's crease during their final two games. Through 56 games, Sorokin has posted a 25-19-12 with a 3.01 GAA.Source: NHL.com
Matthew Liberatore Blanks Phillies On Sunday Afternoon
22 hours agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Matthew Liberatore shut down the Phillies' potent lineup on Sunday afternoon, spinning six shutout innings while giving up just three singles and one walk and striking out seven. Liberatore improved his ERA to 3.93 and has an even better 1.91 FIP after his first three starts of the season. He has racked up 18 strikeouts in 18 1/3 innings and gone at least six innings in each of his three starts. The 25-year-old lefty is off to a strong start to the season and makes sense as a streaming play or NL-only addition after his strong start to the season. His next turn in the rotation is scheduled for Friday night against the Mets in New York.Source: ESPN.com
